IE6 "Clear History" taking 11 seconds to complete

I have a new laptop running XP Pro w/all current
updates. When I try to "Clear History" in IE6
Properties, it takes upwards of 11 seconds to return from
the wait cursor even when there is NO history to clear.
I create another account on the same machine and login to
this account and "Clear History" works as it should,
timewise. What could be in my environment (or on my
harddrive) that could be causing the inordinate delay
with "Clear History"? I can see the "History" folder in
Windows Explorer and it is empty. This only happens
within my original account when the machine was setup.

Thanks for that suggestion, Don, but I should have said
that I have already done that. :-( Any other suggestions?

Dave,
Sounds like a corrupted History folder. You'll have to login as another user
with admin privileges to delete it.

With the disclaimer that I don't do much with XP...
The next step might be to setup a new user account and abandon the "damaged
one."

It would be a good idea to wait a day or two. A better idea might come up.

Yeah, that was next on my "to think about" list. Thanks
for your suggestions.
