IE6 browser problem

I have a problem whereby when I type in a web address as
www.XXXXXX then IE does not add the http://
automatically at the front and the web page is not found.

Can anyone please help ??

You might try the following and see if it will help:

Adding HTTP:// to web addresses

You can check these keys and edit them, if necessary, as follows:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\
DefaultPrefix default="http://"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\
Prefixes
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"
