IE6 auto complete

even though my auto complete is enabled, my IE6 will not
complete user names and paswords. any ideas??
 
This article pertains to ie 5. Have a look at it for some clues.

AutoComplete Does Not Save Username and Password
When you visit a Web site that prompts you for your User Name and Password
and you select Save this password in your password list in that dialog box,
Windows may not save your user name and password.
