Hi, All

My computer have problem with IE6 and Acrobat Pro7. Every time, when I
open IE, an Acrobat setup dialog box pops up and do some installation
works, and if I want to continue use IE, I have to cancel this dialog
many times (seven or eight times, I think). This problem happens in
only one user account, and all things is OK in the others account in
the same computer. I've tried uninstall Acrobat and reinstall it, but
the problem remains the same.

My computer is Windows XP SP2 with newest anti-virus definition. Any
idea? Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks,

This is an indication that Acrobat isn't installed correctly.

Acrobat is trying to repair it's installation when you open IE. Here's a
simplified breakdown of what is happening: Acrobat installs a helper library
to provide metadata from PDF files to IE. When IE initializes Acrobat's
helper library, it performs a quick diagnostic (commonly called a "sanity
check," AKA "am I installed properly?"). When you start IE, you cause the
sanity check to fail, and that's when the installer gets invoked.

As a work-around to prevent the installer from happening, for now, in IE go
to Tools...Manage Add-ons, and disable any Adobe/Acrobat helper app. Should
be named "Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper" - click on that to highlight it,
then choose the Disable button bottom right, click Okay.

For a permanent fix, try this app first:

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

It may prevent the installer from running due to corruption in the install
process. This has been helpful with Office apps wanting to do the same
thing all the time.

If no joy, see the manual removal instructions for Acrobat Pro here -
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/322804.html - this will clean up
things that the normal uninstall routine leaves behind. (It's written for
6.0, but I assume this would also cover 7.0) Then reinstall Acrobat Pro 7.
