I understand that there is alreday a topic on this, but I didn't do it
right or understand it. Whenever I go to a website or type a url in,
Internet Explorer 6 adds in front of the url /?%20 (e.g. google.com =
http:///? google.com), and sometimes I have to delete the /?%20
text, click Go, and keep on clicking refresh, or type the url in again.
I have Nortion Anti Virus, Norton Internet Security, Windows Firewall,
Vet Anti-Virus, Spybot and Ad-Aware SE. Can somebody help me remove
this problem?

Hi :-)

It is likely that you still have some form of malware or spyware on your
system. If you did not run the programs you mentioned in Safe Mode with
Hidden files enabled, then chances are the programs did not clean
everything. Be sure to update you AV and run all the programs again in Safe
Mode with Hidden files enabled (instructions for how to do this below if
needed). Also, download, install and run HiJackThis. Follow all the
instructions below carefully:

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of the programs
below, download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

You should also get a copy of WINSOCKXPFIX to have at hand if needed,
available at:

and
WinsockXP Fix- WinXP

also... From LavaSoft- all versions of Windows-

(NOTE: It is reported that in XP SP2, the command netsh winsock reset
will fix this problem without the need for these programs.)

%20 = a space

http://www.google.co.uk/ hello

Although that url dosnt exsist, notice how the space changes to a %20

Hi amsdcj - I assume that you've UPDATED and run the various anti-malware
programs you mention and that these don't show any problem. If this is
correct, then:

Download and run:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/RestoreSearch2.REG to restore
your default Search functionality and reset your prefixes. You'll have to
manually re-select any Search Customizations you may have had, however.

You can try this also: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm

Also, take a look at the suggestions in my Blog, Defending Your Machine,
