IE6 Address Bar without http:// slow caused by WIA

I have a problem. If I enter a URL without entering http:// it takes
forever to load. This only started about 2 weeks ago. After allot of
reading I found it was caused by Windows Image Acquisition(WIA). When I
turn off this service and reboot, IE works without the http://. What is
wrong with WIA? How can I repair this? Thanks.
