I cannot access Internet Explorer from a shortcut. Every
time i try to it says, "to send error report cause it
errors". The thing is I can access the Internet using 'My
Computer'only. As well other programs can access the
Internet such as MSN messenger and software searching for
updates. I need Internet Explorer but dont know how to
fix it so I can just click and go. As well it wont allow
popups or other screens so i cant access sites that when
you click a link they access it in a new browser. Please
help. I am running Windows XP.

Matthew,

When you click the Internet Explorer icon, window may flash a second and quits. Or, it may show an Error-Reporting dialog. This may be due to a malware Browser Helper Object which causes Internet Explorer process to terminate. If you see the Error-Reporting dialog, click "to see what data this report contains" and identify the Module Name causing this error. In most cases, it may be the spyware DLL. Therefore, reinstalling Internet Explorer [in case of a spyware DLL] may not help.

To test with: Disable third-party browser extensions in Internet Explorer
1. Click Start, Run, and type inetcpl.cpl. [or control inetcpl.cpl]
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Browsing, clear the Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart) check box.
4. Restart Internet Explorer.

If this helps, read here for further troubleshooting:
