Everytime I go to http://www.symantec.com to check out my
computer's security, when the test is done it always says
that my IE6 is extremely vulnerable. I've checked all of
my security settings, etc. and can't see where the problem
is. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Sincerely, Hal

Without having further information about your system's
configuration it's difficult to provide an exact
diagnosis, but I would say that Symantec's results have
more to do with your connection settings than your
browser settings.

That is, they may be reflecting the fact that you're not
behind a hardware or software firewall, or that your
system isn't actively running antivirus software. Either
of these circumstances would flag your results as being
less than optimally safe. --- Yes, Symantec is offering a
free service, but they're also trying to convince you to
use their products.

Assuming that you're not already; installing and running
a software firewall such as Zone Lab's ZoneAlarm or
Symantec's Norton Personal Firewall will lower your
exposure online (and help you get more of those little
green check marks when you run Symantec's online security
checks).

That's total unadulterated rubbish. They are _selling_ you something...

Update your machine with all critical updates.
