how can I get IE to NOT go back to a web server to look for updates if I hit
the backspace key?

Stuff gets cached, so how I can get it to use the cache and not my slow
dialup?

I've selected under "check for newer versions..." to every time I start IE
but it always goes to the webpage/server and re-reads the webpage.

Any suggestions?

thanks,
Chris

Internet Options/General (this is the tab you may need to select if not already selected for you)

Click on Settings
Select NEVER (this is 4th item on the list)
Click OK

Close all programs to make sure settings are saved.

Now reopen your browser and see if it makes any difference.

I use non Microsoft products wherever possible which requires no activation.

I use Netscape 7.2 as my default browser which has everything I need for my work.
