Beginning a couple of weeks ago my IE6.0.2... basically stopped working. The
browser starts up but is not able to get to ANY pages on the internet. It's
possible that my 14-year old, who is temporarily sharing my computer while I
rebuild his, may have done something or downloaded something that's causing
the problem, but I can't see anything obvious. I use NOD32 Antivirus, AdAware
and Sygate Personal Firewall for my computer security.

I've run the internal Windows trouble shooters without success. I've tried
to reinstall IE from my original XP Pro CD, again without success. My FireFox
V1.2 works flawlessly, and I can successfully ping my ISP's DNS so I know my
broadband cable connection is working, but of course I can't access several
important IE-centric websites this way. Appreciate any help.

Your problem sounds exactly like mine. Will IE work on other accounts on
the computer or is it limited to just one account? Mine is only one account
affected. OE works fine on all accounts. When I open IE it seems like it
will work because in the status bar it says "web site found waiting for
reply" or "opening web page" It will eventully give me a sever error page
"can't find DNS.
I have had no luck with posting a hijack this log anywhere, (no
responses)but from what I can tell I can't find anything wrong in the log.
Please let me know if you solve this problem. I am about ready to just
delete the account and rebuild it.

All forums are staffed by volunteers and there just aren't enough to go
around unfortunately. Waits for a reply can take up to a week or more. Be
patient.

Also check the forum where you posted and look for a "sticky" thread
entitled "Before you post your log..." or similar. If you've not taken the
preliminary steps each forum requires before you posted, your thread may
simply be ignored in favor of others who had.

i had the problem a while back. checked everything then consulated with my
computer guy, turns out content advisor was one, have u checked that, and
security settings could be set to high and coolies could possibly be blocked
as well, check those if u haven't worked for me
