I am unable to start up IE on my machine.

For some reason when I try to run IE nothing happens. I can see the
iexplore.exe process for like a second and then it disappears.
When I try to execute IE through my program using IE COM interface, I get an
"Server Execution Failed" error.

I checked the DComcnfg settings to see if there are access and launch
permissions. That seem to be fine.

I even tried reinstalling XP SP2 as it does not allow me to install IE
directly.....says "setup has detected newer version of IE..."

I am dead in the water now! Just cant run IE.

Hi,
This is probably being caused by third party programs- possible
malware/parasites.

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That might allow IE to work.
You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.

You might also be able to browse and download programs from the address bar
of Windows Explorer.

Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page.

This could also be caused by a legitimate program interfering with IE.
Disable (for diagnostic purposes) toolbars, ad-blockers, security/privacy
programs, anti-virus, etc. A program may need to be reinstalled- or not
reinstalled. Also, some programs which interact with IE may need an update
to work with XP SP2. Check the program's website.

Hope this helps,
Don
