IE won't start

One fine day as I was checking my hotmail, I clicked on a
mail. My IE window closed on its own, from then onwards
it is refusing to launch the browser at all. Very strange
but true, I have tried to reinstall, but it won't install
saying that most recent components are already there. I'm
running IE 6 SP1, my computer is well protected.

Unfortunately IE doesn't figure in Microsoft product
support list !

I have the same problem with mine. If I set my computer
back a day it will work fine. This is driving me crazy.

Folks,

I've had the same problem and it got me to the point where I had to
reformat and start from scratch. Very very irritating and the problem
still comes up even after I reinstalled WinXP, the SP1a, and all my
apps. I am 99.9% convinced our/your problems are related to Microsoft
ditching their Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and using Sun's because
anything Java-related has been causing me nothing but headaches
(including apps that can't install). Your sypmtoms are the same as
mine - I can't start MSIE6 from the Start button, nor from the
desktop.
