IE won't shut down properly

I'm running Windows ME on Sony PCGFX150. Every program I
have shuts down properly with either "X"ing out in right
upper corner, or by "File-Exit", except for IE.

IE freezes with either attempt to close it down. The only
way out is to "Cntrl-Alt-Delete" and "End Task".

I have attempted multiple "fixes" offerred by SONY (e.g.,
clearing caches, clearing history, restoring original IE
settings, etc.).

I have run Norton Antivirus for all "known" virus without
any on my computer.

The problem is over 3 weeks old so I don't believe that
going back to a prior registry date will fix it. If I
don't have to, I would prefer not to have to rebuild my
system.

Any thoughts? Anyone with a similar problem? Any known
fixes? Do I need to do a system rebuild and reload of all
programs and data?

Thanks, JR
