Please help me out. I have tried spybot, cwshredder, deleting temp files
etc.....and still just "this page can not be displayed". I have to use
netscape to go online.
Plus, another problem I have is: when I go to Start, Search, nothing
happens. I can not search for a file at all.
thanks

Hi kimla :-)

I'm sorry, but, we are going to have to need a bit more information from you
in order to help. What version of Windows and IE are you using? What is
the full error message, as there are seveal things that trigger various
similar error mesages. What are you doing when this happens?

Jan :)

Hi Jan,
Thanks for responding. Excuse my lack of comp. lingo but here goes. I am
running Windows XP and IE 6 sp2. When I am just logging on the computer on
the desktop the explorer browser when I click it to get online that is when
the page you know the common one ..."The page can not be displayaed" .
Internet explorer does try to open but it is white and says that.
That is all I am doing just trying to get on the internet. No other error
messages. just this page below. I copied and pasted it here:

The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be
experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser
settings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please try the following:

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is
spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click
Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should
match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).
See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set
Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network
connection settings ( etc etc..............

Another problem I am having (not to do with this situation) .......is when I
click start then click search to search for files nothing happens. No error
message nothing at all.
Thank you for helping me. I did email microsoft and someone replied and
gave me several steps to take but they did not work. One that I tried to do
was the one that said for me to click start click search and go to some files
to delete but I can't even open the search button up at all.

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. In the Open box, type:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

3. Click OK, and then click OK again when you receive the following message:

DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded.

4. If that doesn't fix it, see this article:

http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers.htm#new_window

5. If you are using WinXP try this:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_Default_Browser.reg

6. See Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1 may display a blank Web page
after you select Auto-Select encoding
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/870863

You can also try this:

Go to Start/run, and type SFC (msconfig for WinXP).
Choose 'Extract One File From Installation Disk' ("Expand File" for WinXP).
Type oleaut32.dll, not worrying about its location. Then, click Start.

Next to 'Restore From', type in or browse for the file's location, which is
probably in the Win98 (i386 for WinXP) folder of your installation CD-ROM
(typically D:\Win98), or in your Windows\Options\Cabs (Windows\i386 for
WinXP) folder, as the case may be.

Then, next to 'Save File In', enter C:\Windows\System (C:\Windows\System32
for WinXP), and click OK. System File Checker (or msconfig) looks for the
file, saves it as you requested, and then tells you that 'the file has been
successfully extracted'.

You may need to reboot.

I tried all that and it still does not work. On my computer i have 2 acct.
one for me and one for my husband. Well, just yesterday on his acct. IE
works. this is the same computer with 2 accts. Now what. I am running win
xp on a new dell computer. on my acct. I click Explorer and get this page
can not be displayed. Plus napster won''t open up either on that acct.
Now what should I do? I have tried about 15 different troubleshooting ideas

won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
