Windows XP IE Won't Load

IE doesn't start on my computer anymore. I think some kind of trojan or virus program did this. It also wiped out all previous restore points. Luckily, Firefox browser still work. I tried to download IE but micr$oft requires that I have to use IE to download and install the new IE. Does anybody know a work around? Thank you.
 
Reviewer - I've split this post into its own thread, as it was just confusing having it in another old thread. In future can you create a new one please? :)

Have you run anti-spyware and anti-virus applications to check?
