I've ie7 but can't find ng on my server for it, sorry!
Quite often, my internet connection remains but although I can get emails
without any problem, when I try to connect to a web site it says Internet
Explorer cannot display the webpage. network diagnostics show "Windows
cannot connect tot he internet using HTTP. HTTPS or FTP. this is probably
caused by firewall settings" but it still happens if I turn my firewall off.

I lost ability to connect to HTTP sites with IE7, but HTTPS was OK. Foxfire had the same symptons, but MSN Explorer was all OK. IE7 with no addons was no help, starting in safe mode with network connections IE7 worked fine. I have XP Professional with SP2 installed with a FIOS connection on a home router. After running all the diagnostics and fiddling with updates, I finally uninstalled McAfee including running MCPR.exe after turning on Windows firewall. IE7 and Foxfire are now fully functional. Afterwards I successfully installed ZoneAlarm and have no problems.

My IE7 lost the ability to connect to HTTP sites, but HTTPS was OK. The same was true of Foxfire, but MSN Explorer had no problems. IE7 with no addons was no better, but IPL in Safe with network worked OK. I ran many diagnostics and cleaned my registry, turned off McAfee firewall, but nothing helped. I finally uninstalled McAfee and ran MCPR.exe after turning on Windows firewall and all was well. I am now running happily on all browsers with ZoneAlarm installed for security. Just turning off the 3rd party security doesn't help if it has messed with the registry.
