IE won't connect to Internet, even though it recognizes wireless s

So, I had to take my cable modem and wireless router down to do some
painting. I have one desktop computer and two laptops, all running Win XP
and the latest version of IE. When I booted everything back up, the PC and
one of the laptops worked fine, but the other laptop is refusing to connect
to the Internet. It does recognize the wireless signal, so I know it's not a
problem with the router or wireless card, but for some reason IE itself just
won't connect. Any tips? Thanks!

Did you run an inconfig and see if you even getting an ip address? If not
you arent going to get anywhere.

uhhhh, what is an "inconfig?" I'm sorry, I really don't much about this
stuff. Everything kind of just plugged and played.....

I can't download anything, because I can't connect to the Internet. I did
figure out, by going to PC World's site, how to enter the cmd line and run
ipconfig. I do have an IP address listed.

O

oops!!

Try: Start > Run > type CMD and press enter.

Type this at the command prompt:

netsh winsock reset catalog

Press enter, reboot and test.

You connected to the Internet to post this message.
Download it.
Transfer to the problem machine.
Unzip it.
Rin it.

Still not working. I have tried both Zee's suggestion and the transfer of
the winsock file. Could it be something in my TCP/IP settings? Clearly the
router itself is working. So the problem lies solely in the connection this
one laptop is making, or not making to the router. When I run the ipconfig
utility and then ping the IP address, it does send and receive the 4 packets.
