Protected Storage Service is Running but when I try to register RSABase.dll I
receive an error message "Unrecognized flag" and see" \u an unregistered

I suspect you are making syntax errors in whatever you are entering.
E.g. if you are trying to unregister a .dll the switch to indicate that is /u

I am new to Xp what does this means and how do ifix it in hopes of
restoring password saving?

FYI rsabase.dll is not used in your OS. Try it with rsaenh.dll instead.

I don't want to create a new user yet. Thank you

Please provide a reference for the instructions you are trying to follow.

Hello

I am at #3 in the following adress given to me from earlier thread.
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=230592

<title>KB230592 - Addresses Are Not Resolved When the AutoComplete Feature Is Enabled</title>

Wrong article? No mention of rsabase.dll in there?

Perhaps it was this one instead?

<title>KB306895 - AutoComplete Does Not Save Username and Password</title>

Notice the article was written for IE5 (specifically for Windows 2000 users.)
IE5 was developed before the USA allowed products with high levels
of encryption to be exported. Hence the base product contained a
module called rsabase.dll which supported the maximum exportable
level of encryption. When XP was created IE6 was the standard level
of the browser and the export restrictions had been lifted (for the most part).
Hence, rsabase.dll is not found in that OS and its functionality has been
replaced by rsaenh.dll.

rsaenh.dll was not accessible.

Please explain what you tried to do and exactly what you saw.
Remember, your words have to substitute for what our eyes
would notice.

I just rechecked that rsaenh.dll contains both entrypoints
DllUnregisterServer and DllRegisterServer, which would
be all that you should need to be able to execute the two
regsvr32 commands the article describes (provided you
substitute each instance of rsabase.dll with rsaenh.dll
in those instructions).
