System: AMD Athlon 64, 3400+, 2.20 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM, Win XP Home, Version
2002, Service Pack 2

After replacing a failed hard drive and reinstalling Win XP SP2 and most
programs (including all available Windows and Office updates) I found that
IE6 would not open any web sites but just kept trying to load them. I
upgraded to IE7 Beta 2 but the problem remains with a Navigation Canceled
message eventually showing up. At the same time, Mozilla Firefox 1.5
accesses the Internet perfectly as do my mail clients (MS Outlook 2000 and
Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5). What should I try? Thanks.

Hi,

I'd start with checking IE, Tools, Internet Options, Connections. IE might
be trying to use another connection than the one that is active.

Hello Hans,

Thanks for thw quick response. I'm running off a wireless router that
serves three home computers. The connection is set to automatically detect
settings.

Hi Steve,
Go to IE Properties >> Tools >> Internet Options >> Programs locate Manage
Add-Ons Button at the Bottom and Click on it and Disable None MS Plugin then
Click Ok Reboot your computer and try to connect and see if your Issue being
solved, then try to Enable each one -by-one and see the Offending one and
Disable it.
Hope this Helps

Hi nass,

Thanks. Disabling all the add-ons didn't help. Some were already disabled
so the last thing I did was enable them all and that didn't work either.

Steve

did you set IE as your Default Browser?

nass,

I hadn't made IE7b2 my default browser. Firefox 1.5 is. So I went back and
made IE the default browser and it successfully loaded web sites. Then I
opened Firefox and made it the default browser again. Now IE still loads web
pages even though it is no longer the default browser. I don't quite
understand what happened, but thanks for solving the problem.

Hi Steve,
It the Same Idea as telling you Uninstall and reinstall the Firefox, because
it is the cause of the Problem to IE Malfunction.
Thanks for letting us know.
Have a good Night/Day whatever you are in or you doing.
