when i first launch internet explorer (post-boot), norton
antivirus kicks in with an alert: "iexploer.exe is
attemping to write to file c:\windows\system\b25_cache\100.bin"
i stop the action, but when ie loads, there are adware
pop-ups and such loaded in other browser windows. the
problem only occurs the one time i launch the program.

i've cleaned my system using anti-spyware and such, but i
still cannot figure out what the problem is with ie.

any ideas??

thanks.

Perhaps a browser extension or a BHO is causing this. Download ToolbarCop
from Majorgeeks http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4126.html and disable the
BHOs one by one to see which is causing this symptom.

Nope. That fix just resets the toolbar placement settings in the registry.
(used when one of the toolbar has gone off position etc).

i suspect it has something to do with a spyware registry
key or something since ie also opens some pop-ups. virus
scan is clean, spyware scan is clean.
perhaps this will help restore the keys???:

thanks for the help, btw.
