I am a Analyst developer for windows for more than 8 years.. and i always
backed what microsoft does....yesterday i was at my peak....Internet Explorer
just looked miserable infront of a spyware named "CWS". it
disables...firewalls...it disables popup blocker...and make sure it is turned
off every sec. none of the AntiSpyware tools workddd!!!!....especially the
microsoft give away AntiSpyware.

So at the end i have to decide on using my development expertise to figure
out a away to remove this spware (or) just download FireFox....
I hate to say this i downloaded FireFox....

What is going on with IE ....its designed sooo vlunerable...how in the world
that they designed something like firewalls and popup blockers...that they
can be disabled using a Spywareee...I would really like to know what people
think about this and its the time microsoft come forward and make its system
secure.

Hi Kishore :-)

I'm not an expert by any stretch, but, try these programs that are made to
remove the CWS scumware, which has been around for some time. These programs
have been around since the first round of and continually updated. There
are many variants of the Coolwebsearch, and these programs were created
especially to remove them.

Welll i did all of the stuff you mentioned below..
This spyware looks like a new one as it is disabling Firewall and windows
popup blocker. by the way none of the other popup blockers are working
eaither.

Kishore :-)

ie should just be left somewhere to die a miserable death.

so many holes and bad security stock settings.

microsoft should just start promoting firefox at
mozilla.org and admit defeat.just like they have with
promoting non-microsoft anti-spyware tools.

Yes, they do...and whats stopping them would be a good software.
and that is what i want from microsoft.....After all Service Pack2 is for
security.
and spyware is taking a good shot at it. i think we dont need
virusus...anymore...spyware are doing better.

I just want people to follow yup with this post and make sure microsof just
not know about it but do something about it. or else....people will start
switching to other browsers and so on and so forth.

AND LET NOT THE SERVICE PACK 2 BE A FIX FOR ALREADY FIXED BUGS FROM ANTI
VIRUS SOFTWARE..BUT TO RENOVATE THE WHOLE THING.

I have my settings set to:

To help stop unauthorized downloads via your activex controls change your
default settings.
These settings are good for XP. The wording should be close for other systems
as well.
Go to control panel and open "internet optionsâ€.
Click on the security tab then custom level.
make sure these settings are as follows.

Download signed active x controls>set to prompt
Download unsigned active x controls>set to disable
Initialize and script active x controls not marked as safe>set to disable
Run active x controls and pluggins>set to enable
Script active x controls marked safe for scripting>set to enable
Java permissions>set to high
Launching programs and files in a IFRAME" > Prompt
Installation of Desktop items"> Prompt
Navigate sub-frames across different domains>prompt

Alongl with spywareblaster

And a good A/V and firewalland I NEVER get any parasite's on my system
The paid version of "Process Guard" will stop "rootkit" downloads which will
be hitting the internet very soon.

Just my 2 cents worth.
