I'm running Windows XP Media Center Edition version 2002, and I'm having some
trouble with IE. Large sections of many sites, including this discussion
board, won't work with IE. I'm not quite sure what the problem is, since
everything works just fine with Firefox, but IE won't even list its version,
cipher strength, and product ID, as can be seen here:

I'd just forget about it and continue using only Firefox, but certain sites
and programs i plan on using rely on IE. Any possible suggestions?

Sorry... look under Add/Remove Windows Components within Add/Remove
Programs.

That does not remove IE, it just removes access to IE.

That looks like IE6 SP2. Did the machine come with SP2 or did you add it?

You've got a hijackware problem. This stuff infects Windows, not IE, so
reinstalling IE won't help.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
