IE time index problem

Hi am running WinXP and i'm having a slight problem with IE connecting to the net. When i try to load any websites it just says can't connect. I'm connecting through a wingate proxy which is working fine, as i can still use other browsers to connect, one of which is 'Avant Browser' which i'm told uses IE. Also my firewall displays the creation time as 0000..

Not too sure if this helps but, just recovered from a crash caused by my usbradio driver which said something about a time index error
