Now what is this all about.. Why is this happening slowly to each persons
pc.. which idiot thought it was a good idea???????

im refering to viewing a site with Flash objects in it.

With IE all of a sudden, when rolling over a flash object you now get a
"really nice!!!" dotted border around it.. it ruins a sites experience and
fluidity.

Is there any reason for this update to have been force upon me and others?

It's the EOLAS patch. Move the marker over and you will see "Click on
the control to active it".

I can't see the border on mine (look at the picture of the boat at the
bottom of the page http://home.chello.no/~larse/c-photo.html).

Think maybe I have a BORDER=0 there somewehere (because it's a link)

EOLAS patch. Stupid, sad, but true. Not MS fault this time :-(

Yeah, only thing is that it's temporary, after which (don't know exact
date), the current fix that this patch reverts becomes mandatory.

Blame EOLAS for it, they decided to chase Microsoft about a patent
infringement AFTER it had become very widespead

Well. It easy (but it's a stupid) to program yourselves round this.
Most webmasters and web-designers will update their pages (and I guess
web-publishing tools will automaticly use the new way of doing things)
