IE stops working until repairing connection or rebooting

There is a very weird thing happening to my computer recently: right in the
middle of the work, IE 6 stops working and shows page cannot be diplayed for
anykind of website requested intranet or internet. It starts working again
when I run repair connection.

The shared drives and every other network resource just works great.

Any idea?

Thanks

Hi Gentian :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, but, try the
following and see if it helps:

Do you have braodband or Dialup?

Power Management adjustments to stop connection loss

Start>Settings> Control Panel>Network and Dial-up Connections>Local Area
Connection>Properties>Configure>Power Management tab>uncheck "Allow the
computer to turn off this device to save power."

Connection problems here

Do steps 1 and 2 on your working computer.

"How to troubleshoot TCP/IP connectivity with Windows XP".

Hope this helps.

It is windows XP SP2. Computer is shut off every night. When I come to work
sometimes during the days does that. And the connection settings are fine, I
can access every document in network shares. We have windows 2003 domain
controllers, DNS and WINS configured just fine. I myself am the IT guy and
believe me, the connection to the network is just fine.

Hi Gentian Hila :-)

Then I can only suggest that you check the connection settings in IE, as
something it telling it to disconnect. Have you checked the "disconnect
when idle....setting? Have you checked the proxy settings to be sure
something is not getting changed? Have you disabled the AutoDisconnect? If
you are using Outlook Express for your email client, there are connection
settings there as well.

Go to Outlook Express, Tools/Options/Connection and make sure *Cconnect to
this account using* is not selected for each mail and news account. Make
sure there is no conflict in account settings - each account should show the
connection option of *any available

Hope this helps.
