Please allow me to share with you what has taken place already....I will
continue after I post the following 4 communications:

Try here:

"How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows
XP"

<[email protected]> Sent: 8/5/2003 12:01:14 PM Will, I did the 2nd
part of the registry instruction to
fix OE and it worked beautifully TYVM!!! However I also
went back (because IE continually stops responding more
than 50% of the time I use it) and did the same steps for
the first part that allows one to reinstall the browser,
yet at 99% it stopped and said wrong version etc etc
install will not occur. So I went back into the registry
and changed the 0 back to a 1.

any advice??

Doug

If that method didn't completely solve your situation, you may have another
underlying problem. Try posting into the
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpressnews group - you'll
find the experts there, who will be able to help you.

Will
*****************************************OK, I am
writing to this group as the outlook problem is fixed but I think Will
missed(?) the point, I'm not sure.ButI sure would appreciate any help to get
my browser working correctly.I am running pop up stopper free edition, yet
the browser "stops responding" with the prograM ENABLED AND
DISABLED....SO....???---Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.Checked by AVG
anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).Version: 6.0.506 / Virus
Database: 303 - Release Date: 8/1/2003

Whatever are your talking about? What's your problem (now)? Have you ever
posted to this newsgroup before?

Try posting to an OE6-specific newsgroup about OE problems:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

Whatever am I talking about??? Sorry PA Bear.....I'm talking about a
specific problem with IE BROWSER and I thought this WAS the news group for
that issue. I simply posted what had already occurred leading me up to
contacting this newsgroup. My problem was stated quite clearly if someone
took the time top read what's I sent since it was sent to help avoid getting
the same advice which I've already been given, tried, and found it
unsuccessful. OE IS NOT THE PROBLEM it is IE :)

So why even post the foregoing about OE?

IE "stops responding" when doing what? Any errors?

Have you visited Windows Update lately? Your headers (X-Newsreader:
Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1106) suggest you haven't. Whatever
your problem is, I have a hunch Q818529 will fix it.

Always disable your anti-virus application before going to Windows Update
and when downloading/installing from any MS page.

PS Your AVG definitions are also out-of-date.

PA Bear ...I sent (as you suggested) to the other group (where I see you
also attend), hopefully a more clear description of the problem. Yet I
don't know what else to say beyond IE STOPS RESPONDING (that what it says at
the top) same thing as freezes I guess?

And when I go to windows update it tells me there are no new updates.
And please explain why: Version: 6.0.506 / Virus Database: 303 - Release
Date: 8/1/2003 is out of date after just 5 days please?
