I have IE 6.0 SP1 installed on two NT4 SP6a. IE works fine except for HTTPS
sites. It will not connect to any HTTPS sites. I suspect that a file or
files on my server have been removed or overwritten. Can anyone tell me how
to get the files on my server that will support the HTTPS sites. I have
re-installed IE. I have also re-installed SP6a for NT.

Nass,

My IE was setup per your information already. SSL 2 &3 were checked. When I
went to the Contents page and clicked on Certificates no window would open.
I am not sure why that is.

When I went to register the DLL's you mentioned, I got an error message "The
procedure entry point I_CryptInstalAsn1Module could not be located in the
dynamic link library Crypt21.dll".

And finally as far as sfc.exe it was not on the machine. When I researched
it, I found that it was would only work with 2000/XP/2003.

Try and run the IE repair tool. Go to Start...Run and type in -

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"

You also mentioned reinstalling SP6a for NT. Did you install the high
encryption version?

Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a High Encryption (128-bit)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...68-7c92-4bbc-9a99-a00f626749ec&DisplayLang=en

You may also need this:

Post-Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a Security Rollup Package (SRP)

When I run the setup command as you specify, I am asked if I want to
uninstall the current version. It doesn't ask me if I want to reinstall.

I did install the SRP but that did not help.
