It seems I made two recent changes at the same time, and I don't know what
might be the cause of my problems. I upgraded to XP Service Pack II and
deleted the Relevant Knowledge adtware at roughly the same time. Now, when I
start IE, it shows me the DNS entry or IP address of my homepage(yahoo) for
about 30 sec. before it opens. I can then browse for a minute or two before
the next major slowdown occurs after a link click. Some links time out and I
get a server not found screen. When I hit refresh, the page appears and I
can surf again for a few minutes and then it's slowdown time again. I'm
running the Windows Defender Beta and NAV. The only thing they find is the
GAIN adware which I'm allowing for use of a software product. The GAIN stuff
has been on the computer for a year or more with no problems. I should note
that Netscape and Mozilla both suffer the same problems, and I have changed
my homepage as well to no avail.
Thanks in Advance!
