IE shortcut logo's

Why do my IE shortcuts sometimes have the business logo and sometimes they
don't? Example: I make a shortcut to the Weather Channel and it will have
the Weather Channel logo next to the shortcut, but the next day the logo is
gone and maybe a week later it's back...
 
Probably because your clean up temp files has the "Offline Web Pages" item
checked. Assuming XP - Start/Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/Free
Up Space.. leave "Offline Web Pages" unchecked.
Again assuming XP you could download "TweakUI Powertoy" from Microsoft,
along with several tweaks it has a "Repair" function for several things,
including Favicons.
 
I have XP SP2, but I don't have a "Performance & Maintenance" tab in the
"Control Panel" ???
 
Weird.. I got this from Kelly's XP Troubleshooting Page (Good Luck!!)
Control Panel - Icons Missing

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT

Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\don't load

Look in the right pane and you'll see the Control Panel Icons that have been
disabled. You can either right click on the "don't load" subkey and select
Delete to restore all disabled icons, or you can right click on each of the
items in the right pane and select Delete to selectively restore them.
Scroll up to Control Panel Applets for a listing of what each one is.

The change will be seen the next time you open Control Panel.
 
thanks for the links, I used the favicons and it found about 1/3 of them,
the XP tweaks looks like it will be handy in the future thanks again

I did the "regedit" and found the "don't load", but ithere were only 3 items
and they were all (no value or data ??). Another person gave me a link to a
program that found a bunch of the icons...thanks
