I have Windows XP. Every time I click on my user account, the first thing
that is launched is IE with a web page saying "http://iesettingsupdate.com
cannot be found." Why is this automatically launched every time I click on
my user account? How can I stop it from happening?

Thanks much.

Hi,

Seems an adware to me. Did you run Adaware, Spybot and Windows Defender?

Kind regards

Hans

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose default
install is loaded with malware. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along.

Hans,

Thanks for your response. Yes, I did run Adware and Spybot and both found
some spyware that were promptly removed since then. However, I still have
the problem. Any other thoughts?
