IE search page error

I keep getting error mesage "Internet Explorer could not
open the search page", all the IE shortcuts are missing
too. Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 is not even on my start
menu so i can troubleshoot n repair. I downloaded Internet
Explorer 6 with no luck. I'm using Window 2000. Has any one
dealt with this issue or or any suggestions?

It might be a problem with your connection settings. Start here:

"The Page Cannot Be Displayed" Error Message When You Try to Start Internet
Explorer

As for the missing shortcuts, I can't tell. Where are you missing those
shortcuts? You can place a shortcut to IEXPLORE.EXE anywhere. As for the
desktop, IE, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, [x] Show IE on the desktop.

It can't be my connection because I can surf the web(using
netscape) n everything else that has to with internet
service. Internet Explorer is wats giving problems. I have
it set to "never dial a connection". I connect with dsl
service. What else can I do?
