IE Script Errors on XP - any advice?

Hello:

I am having numerous IE script errors show up consistently
on many web sites. One example is www.weather.com that
creates 5 more script errors.

The most common error is Line X; Char: 7, Error: Invalid
character, Code: 0. Other errors include object error, or
syntax error.

I have downloaded all the recent XP IE updates and cannot
find any references to how to fix these.

Any advice is appreciated.
