Linda

This problem just popped up in the last week and I have
not changed any settings. Whenever I reboot I get the
following IE script error:

An error has occurred in the script on this page

Line: 2
Char: 9
Error: Invalid character
Code: 0
URL: file://C:\WINDOWS\system32\AdCache\B_541400.HTM

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

Regardless if I click yes or no, it goes away and doesn't
seem to affect anything. Obviously something is missing,
so how do I fix it?

Thanks a bunch,
Linda

Investigate why you have a folder AdCache under c:\windows\system32.

Can you open the B_541400.htm file for some clues?
Do that without any connection to the web, if you are prompted to start you
dial up networking do not. This may be some parasites.

IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

or:

SpyBot-S&D

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/scriptdb.htm

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.
Check the box to Disable script debugging.
Uncheck the box to Display a notification about every script error.

You might want to refresh your scripting engine:
