In trying to step throught Norton Antivirus 2002
Information Wizzard I get an IE script error meaage, line
316. I also have problem w/ connecting to online
banking. Any advise?

Sorry, no advice but I am having exactly the same
problem. This was agter upgrading to XP from ME.
Symantec have asked me to try loads of stuff which I have
done to no avail. Even reloaded XP.

Symantec says Norton 2003 and 2004 doesn't use scirpting
so there won't be a problem - but I'm disappointed that I
have to upgrade (at a cost) just to get over this problem.

Hope fully some kind person will provide guidance/an
answer

Cheers

Roy

Follow the same suggestion, it may be a new parasite.

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] or download direct (below):
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

If you get a 404 error or Access denied, try:
http://216.180.252.218/~spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

received this back from Henri's suggested website forum -
not looking too promising!

I'm sorry to say that this IS a symantec problem. With
all the best will in the world, you will not get rid of
this problem unless you get rid of Norton.

I have no idea what causes it and neither will Norton. It
is most likely a corrupt registry key during the install
of Norton.

I have been there myself. I tried everything in my power
to cure this.

1. I have searched the registry for corrupt entries
2. I loaded and reloaded Windows
3. Same with Norton System Works, uninstalled and re-
installed
4. I wiped hard disc and loaded everything back on
5. I did the same thing time and again with just Windows
98 and Norton loaded.
6. Reformatted and loaded just those two, ten times

With just Windows and Norton loaded, I had this problem
six out of the ten times.
For some reason due to it's bloat, it messes with Windows
files and corrupts them.
Turning off the script error reporting stops the window
from opening but doesn't cure the problem.

Reloading the htt template didn't work either but by far
the best way to clear this problem up is to ditch Norton
and go for another AV and firewall combo.

Sorry, but that is how I cured it.
