ie says connecting, but never loads page

naib

i have a 2000 server going that feeds internet access to
the rest of my network...on the server itself, when i open
ie and put in a url, it says connecting in the bottom but
never actually connects...it shows the proper ip as
well...even for sites i've never been to...its weird...it
just says connecting...but never loads up...the rest of
the network can connect to websites just fine...its just
the server that has the issue...

any ideas?
