First off, my apologies for the cross-post, I just wasn't sure what the best group would be to post this to and If I have to reset one more persons default email program to Outlook instead of OE I will kill myself!!!

I have set a GPO for the domain to reset this back to Outlook if and when the system decides OE should be default again. This GPO DOESN'T WORK! (using GPO->User Settings->Windows Settings->Internet Explorer Maintenance->Programs).

This policy does nothing as far as I can tell and I can't find any place else to set this. Does anyone have a resolution for this? I'm getting so sick of hearing "my system won't let me send an email, it's asking for my server!"

ARGH!!!

Does everyone has the same Outlook version as the machine you configured the
policy? Try a forced update for the GPsettings on a client. For Windows XP
open a command prompt and type; gpupdate /force

Reboot the machine and try again.

Hope this helps!

yes same versions of outlook...This policy has also been in place for months
and other policy's work fine.

Go to a different machine and edit the Group Policy Object from there and
see if that helps. When you edited the policy wait for the synchronisation
of the server and reboot your client. If the policy is not set use gpupdate
/force. When you used this command line restart the client again and see if
the policy is enforced.

Hope this helps!
