I am having a problem on a Win 2003 Server.
Whenever I have IE open and then close the browser, the IEXPLORER.exe
process continues to run, and I can not re-open IE until I first kill the
process with task manager.

This the only 2003 server here that is having this issue.
What is needed to correct this?

Thanks for your help

iexplorer.exe (with the "r" at the end) is not a legitimate process. It is
spyware:

The IE process is iexplor.exe

Could have some hosed code or Registry. See if you can reboot, re-apply the same SP that's on it, and reboot again. Then check.

And to monitor the process, get FileMon and RegMon from Sysinternals.com.
