Hi all,

I am at present located in Norway, and I'm having some problems viewing
pages with the Norwegian letters Æ,Ø,Å..

For instance:
at www.edc.dk (danish site, but same letters), I get funny symbols instead
of some letters.
Here's an example: "Her finder du den n?este EDC-m?er. Klik p?ortet eller v?
en kommune fra listen."

I obviously have a norwegian keyboard, and all has worked before, but now
nothing seem to help to get this back to normal.
Was hoping that some of you out there might have a bright idea as to what is
causing this problem?

Regards
SC

Hi SC :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, which really is a
must when asking for help in the newsgroups, but, in addition to Noel's good
advice, try the following as it may apply to your OS and see if it helps:

If you have the Google Toolbar or any other 3rd party toolbars installed,
disable it and see if that helps. If not, uninstall and reinstall it. If
you have Yahoo Companion, uninstall it.

Make sure the language you have selected to use is installed.

Check in IE>Tools>Internet Options>General>Accessibility
and Control Panel>Accessibility Options>Display:

For normal viewing nothing should be checked in these sections. Also check
the setting in Control Panel>Accessibility Options>Display is set to Windows
Standard and make sure the High Contrast is not checked.

Go to>View>Encoding
Make sure the Auto Select is UNchecked, and the language you want to use is
selected.

If you have more than one language installed, check to be sure the one you
want to use is at the top of the list under Languages on the Tools>Internet
Options>General tab

Zone Alarm (perhaps Pro) may also cause this problem.

FYI a certain version of Zone Alarm has been blamed for that
symptom before. I'm not sure exactly what it is that it does which
makes IE render HTTP control information like that though.

Hope this helps.
