I have a problem. =.= obviously. Whenever I go to eBay,
I get these java script errors on the top of the page and
then it won't go anywhere and eventually it gives me an
illegal operation error and the browser shuts off. What
can I do to fix this? I've tried getting rid of adware
on the system, and that initally worked. But now I can't
get on the site and I just cleaned my system. I'm using
XP Pro... help?

You might want to refresh your scripting engine:

or

Windows Script 5.6 for Windows 2000 and XP

Thanks for your help. I tried this but it worked fine
for one day and then went back to the same thing. Now I
can't see anything on the My Yahoo page either. Any
suggestions?

I suddenly had similar problems with IE 6/Win 98
displaying up to six consecutive script error messages
when browsing ebay and 1 or 2 loading Yahoo. But for me,
if I simply clicked Yes (or No) to each prompt the page
would eventually load fine.
Still, I solved the problem by doing a piecemeal approach
to repair of IE 6. Below are the easy instructions I
followed which I found on another post. They are actually
geared to a slightly different problem but are safe to
apply anyway. (I made a few edits to reflect the limited
steps I took (compared to the whole process given in the
instructions.)

1. Go to Start,|Run. Then copy the first of the lines
below in its entirety and paste it into the box: (hit
Enter and you'll get a message about successful completion
of the registration process. Repeat the process for each
of the subsequent lines. At any point you might check to
see if the problem has been solved before going to the
next dll. Some of the later ones may require a reboot to
take effect.

regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 msjava.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 msxml.dll
regsvr32 scrrun.dll

(Doing only these first five did the trick for me. You
may need to go further.)

regsvr32 comcat.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Msoeacct.dll
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\Msoe.dll"
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 Stdole2.tlb
regsvr32 Olepro32.dll
regsvr32 Msjet40.dll
regsvr32 pdm32.dll
regsvr32 Msjtor40.dll
regsvr32 Dao360.dll

Anyone using Win98x will get an error on Shell32.dll, they
can ignore it. Only the ME, Win2k and XP versions of
windows have shell32 as an object that needs registering.
(For these earlier operating systems, run "regsvr32
shdoc401.dll " instead of "regsvr32 Shell32.dll".)
Depending on your system, you may also get "not found"
error messages on the last two - if so, ignore them.

Re-start your computer when you've finished.

2. Some links to additional possible solutions:

Also see: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679 for
certain registry checks that can be made.

3. You can also do the following, but BE AWARE that it
will reset to the default Homepage and Search. Go to:
IE/Tools/Internet Options/Programs/
and click Reset Web Settings. You can always change
Homepage and Search preferences back to what you want
afterwards.

There are also recommendations that you use Internet
Options to delete your temp internet files (including
offline content, and also the Cookies.

If the above don't work, you may need to disable script-
blocking functions in your firewall/anti-virus program.

Finally, you may need to reset the security level to
medium or medium-low, using Internet Options' Security tab.
