i cannot connect to the internet. It seems to be a
problem with internet exlorer itself or pice of software
blockes it before getting online. I did the ping test and
connection looks fine, got reply from bbc website but
still when i try to open internet exlorer shows only the
page cannot be displayed. any idea why? anyone?

I do not have the answer but I am having the same issues. I'm running XP
Pro, MSIE 6.0, 128 bit security and under Internet Options Advance Tab under
Security I have SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 all check as I've seen sugested
from previous articles. I DO NOT have a PC 1.0 which is also suggest to
checked. Strange thing is that one of my machines began getting this message
but I created a new user account and IE works. You may want to try creating
a new user acct and see what happens. Also I loaded Netscape under same user
and it works ok. The really strange thing is my second PC was ok until this
morning. I run spy and add subtract software and keep my virus software up
to date. Also ran CWShredder. I've seen a lot of people listing this issue
but have not yet found a good solution.

Try adding another user account and reply to let us all know if that worked
for you. You may also want to download Netscape and try loading it to see if
a second browser works. I bet it will.

Can somesome help both of us? Why does IE just stop working for one user?

Don't know if this is your problem, but it's helped with mine. I've been
having trouble with SP2 (I'll guess - it's recent) changing my LAN settings
(IE Tools> I'net options> Connections > LAN settings> ) to "Use a proxy
.....". (which I don't need - or want!)

Good luck.

..... and now I'm off to find the great and powerful wizard about a memory
location that IE can't seem to read.

First check for malware. Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware,
Spybot) at

I have the same issue. Good connection verified with cable provider; Outlook
working fine but IE (nor other browser would connect); SO, reformatted D
drive reinstalled xp, office and all is well; C drive still sits with blocked
IE which I guess I will get to. Solution is simple, keep a spare, clean drive
standying by and you should be good.
This all seemed to have happened around the time SP2 was installed but who
knows?
