Is PowerPoint installed?

I am having a similar problem.

In my situation, the PPT doc is stored in a SQL Server
database and is set up in the following manner:

Response.ContentType = 'application/mspowerpoint'
Response.AddHeader("Content-
Disposition", "filename=test.ppt");
Response.BinaryWrite(rs("FILECONTENT"));

Using IE 5.0 on a WIN 98 machine, the file downloads and
displays as expected. Using XP Pro and IE 6.0, the screen
comes up blank (though the hard drive runs as IF it is
loading a helper app of some sort.

Any clues to this would be most appreciated.

Ditto here. Running IE 6, PowerPoint XP is installed,
Windows ME. Page comes up, asks what I want to do, I
say "Open" it says Done and nothing comes up. It will
download if I select to "Save" it instead.

Same problem. I am using NT4.0 which successfully opened
PowerPoint with IE5.5. When I upgraded to IE6.0,
PowerPoint no longer opens. Message in status
bar "Downloading from site...." and then nothing.

I downloaded from Microsoft a free Power Point reader. It works great,
though, of course, you can't edit the documents.

I had a similar problem in the past. It turns out that
IE6 was not installed correctly. You have to reinstall
it. If it was installed correctly before, you wouldn't be
hacing a problem. However, it will open as a slide show.
This is crap because you won't be able to access the PP
print features that were available IE5.5. I can't print,
period. If you can figure out a way around, I'd be much
obliged. For some reason, I can't find this topic
addressed anywhere.
