I've recently been experiencing problems on several webpages where they don't
seem to be displaying correctly, such as:
http://img445.imageshack.us/my.php?image=internetexplorerissuesqo9.jpg
The display problem means that I can't access anything beyond the front page
on any of the pages. I've worked through some possible solutions through the
support centre here, none have worked so far, though I may just have been
looking in the wrong place- so any direction would be appreciated. I'm
running WinXP with SP2.

Hi,
You appear to be seeing the non-CSS version of the page.

Go to Internet Options> General> Accessibility and make sure that "Format
documents using my style sheet" is not checked.

Then, a third-party security/privacy program may be blocking your header
info, so the website has determined that your browser is not CSS capable.

Some possibilities from Mike Burgess:

Are you using a Firewall or "filtering software"?

Several of these are known to cause problems:
1) Zone Alarm Pro [Private Header Info - enabled?]
Reset "Ad Blocking" and "Cookie Control" to "medium"
"Mobile Code Control" = Off

2) Symantec (ISS\NIS)[Enable Browser Privacy - enabled]
Active Content - "Allow All Script To Execute"
Problem: some sites cannot detect the 128 bit encryption
Solution: Completely remove and reinstall NIS.
[more info]
Web Pages Display a Red "X" Instead of a Graphic

3) Any "ad blocking" software that blocks "http_referrer"
or contains entries that are blocking access to the desired site.

4) Cookie blocking software that are blocking "required" Cookies.

5) Pop-up blockers that are stripping header\url info.

7) WebWasher Standard Filter/URL Filter

Tests:
Go to http://gemal.dk/browserspy/headers.php Can that site read your
headers?
Does your User_Agent string look (essentially) like this
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)

Test #2: Try this test *very* briefly because you'll be running with
security
programs shutdown...
Startup in Safe Mode with Networking.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=315222 If the problem goes
away, a program that didn't load in Safe Mode is causing it.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the reply,
I've gone through all the possible solutions you've listed and none of them
work, unfortunately.
Test #1 did look like you described (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0;
Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Thank you for your help in any event!

Hi,
[Digging deeper] Clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General>
Delete files (and delete offline content when that dialog pops up) It's
often recommended that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

If running a cable modem, dsl modem or router, have you, at some point,
powered *everything* down for a few minutes? This sometimes helps.

Did the "Safe Mode with Networking" test change the display of the page?
Note: With WinXP you should not connect to the web for longer than a half
minute or so in Safe Mode.

Thanks for the information- last night when starting in safe mode with
networking the test showed the page incorrectly again.
However, after clearing the files and offline content the page showed
correctly in safe mode and now also in regular startup,so the problem is
solved. Thank you very much for all your help.
