Help. Any website I enter I receive a page can not be displayed. This just
started recently. The tcp/ip settings are correct and I am able to browse
using Netscape. Any ideas...

I am having the same problem, just started too. And I'm just as puzzled. My
LAN status shows connected, all my lights are green. I've been unable to find
a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a post I found by Tinkie called "My solution for Page cannot be
displayed" dated 5/19. haven't tried it yet but it's worth a shot. Here it
is...

My operation system is Windows XP Professional SP2 using Internet Explorer
6.0.

For all those who are like me and have not been able to find a solution to
the "Page cannot be displayed" and "server not found or DNS error" when
trying to access some websites, maybe this will help.

I have finally figured out what is wrong on my computer and I have no idea
what made the change in the first place (maybe a Windows Update?). This may
not work on yours, but it is worth a try. You can very easliy reverse this
change if it does not help.

After running all my antispyware and virus scanner to make sure my computer
was clean and after checking the HOSTS file to make sure the websites in
question were not referenced, I took the following steps:

Opened Internet Explorer 6.0 properties and went to "Content" and then
clicked on CLEAR SSL STATE and clicked OK. Then I made sure that under the IE
"Advanced" tab SSL 2.0, 3.0, and TLS 1.0 were checked.

Next (and this is the kicker) I went to START on my desktop and then clicked
"Control Panel", then Administrative Tools, next I clicked on "Local Security
Policy", then on "Security Options". I scrolled down to "System Cryptography:
Use FIPS compliant algorithims for encryption, hashing, and signing. I
doubleclicked it and set it to *DISABLED* and clicked OK.

I then rebooted my computer to make sure that the change was made. IT
ACTUALLY WORKED!

I can now get to all those sites that I was having problems with. I can't
believe how easy this was!

After all that searching and reasearching, guess I did learn a few things
and start to question many things. Almost a month of disparity and a hardy
loathing for my IE6! Just glad its over - for the time being any way.

I know this will not help everyone, but I hope this helps many, many
frustrated people! :-)

I get the Page Cannot be Displayed in the advertisements on web pages. Is
this the same problem?
