IE opens multiple new windows by itself in rapid sequence

This just started happening today where new windows of IE
open in rapid sequence. I have not been able to determine
the address, but it contains the "codebase". What is
causing this?

Right Click My Computer >> Manage >> SERVICES

Look for MESSENGER SERVICE, if its started and set to
automatic, that's your problem. It allows for unwanted
advertisment and informational windows to popup on your
system, jolly good fun!
