Problem suddenly started, IE6 automatically opens new windows (with nothing
in them, they just sit in the taskbar) but they are called Micorsoft
Internet Explorer (note spelling is not Microsoft!). They close OK but are a
real pain as they just keep opening up. Any ideas ayone?

update and run your anti-virus program.

Well "mac" what a crap answer! If you have any knowledge of the problem then
please explain - if not then shut the hell up - such a stupid answer "run
your virus software" could have been given by a 6 year old (perhaps you are
a 6 year old). The idea of these newsgroups is to all help each other not
play idiotic games. Just disappear quietly.

OK then, maybe I remembered it wrong, not a virus but Spyware!
Not sure why I am bothering?????
but here:

Spyware Alert!

"micorsoft" hijacker.

Go to:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location: Spyware and Hijackware Removal Support.
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/index.php?s=8a236cdf61469fbad3bddbe810be0374&act=SF&f=11

Sign in, then copy and paste both files in your message.

here are some more "6 year old replies" to this question of yours!
Sorry to the MVP'S.
