IE on new laptop

I have a new Dell Laptop running xp pro with an LCD
screen set at 1440 x 1050 pixels - when you try to change
it to something smaller you are advised not to.
on most web pages, only half the screen is full, the
right side is blank. everything is there, just not
widened to use the whole screen. anyone know of any
settings i can change?

The page is coded for an 800 x 600 display. I just live with it.

I'm jealsous. My laptop won't go higher than 1024 x 768. <G>

thanks,I guess I have no choice but to live with it.
yeh, this machine is at 1400 x 1050. it is a Latitude
d600 a really sweet machine
