IE Not Saving Settings

For the past few days, everytime I start IE (by double clicking my desktop
icon), the IE window comes up in a position and size that was where a popup
window came up a few days ago. Also, the Status bar is active.

I've run ad-aware and spybot, with no change. Any help?

Windows remembers the size of the last Normal IE window closed.
Open such a link.
Don't use the maximize button.
Stretch the edges/corners so that the window fills the screen.
Close all other IE windows.
Close the stretched window.

I do exactly what you suggested everytime and I still get the old small
window when I start IE even after a re-boot. It appears that windows is not
remembering my last normal IE window.

I've tried all of these. No luck. One interesting thing is that I tried was
to get my status bar back using "http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/ietips.htm"
suggestion:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Show_StatusBar"="yes"
"Show_URLinStatusBar"="yes"

I changed the "Show_StatusBar" to yes,but something changed it back to no
when I opened a new IE window.

It's possible you may have a hijacker, malware, spyware or parasites on your
system causing this problem. Thus, in addition to running your updated
anti-virus
program, you should do the following to be sure none of these are present on
your system. Although you may have already run one or more of the programs,
please do so again according to the instructions below. Some variants of
malware can replicate themselves over and over if not removed properly.

(If you download and use the updater from the beginning, it will

NOTE: If you can not download these programs from the Internet, if your PC
has CD read capabilities, go to another computer with CD-ROM burning
capabilities. Create a folder on the hard drive of the other computer called
HOLD, download the programs to that folder, then burn that folder to a CD.

and run them. After you have IE access again, update all programs where
possible to get the latest definitions and run them again in Safe Mode to be
sure there are no lingering items on the system.

Well, it's working today. I did everything below. Also, I "unistalled it",
emptied out the regisry of everytning IE and 're-installed it".
