IE not downloading Files

All things IE have been working fine on my laptop for years, but I installed
the Microsoft Defender a week ago and now I am unable to download anything.
When I'm on any website and try to download a .zip, .exe, .jpg, or any type
of file, the box for "run" or "save as" comes up, I select a directory, and
the "progress bar" shows the file is being downloaded. I also have a Windows
Explorer window open where I can watch the file being created. When the
progress bar gets to 99%, the file is created in the chosen directory, but as
soon as it hits 100% and the progress box closes, the file just disappears
and I am unable to find it anywhere on the HD. I have reset all IE options,
turned off my firewall, disabled my Antivirus...nothing works. Has anyone
else experienced this?

Try downloading (or get a friend to) Mass Downloader or Star Downloader. Put
the terms in Google because I dont know what the addresses are

Hi,
Since downloads have to pass through the IE cache, try clearing the
Temporary Internet Files (and delete offline content when that dialog pops
up)

Have you tried uninstalling Windows Defender? It's still in Beta. ;-)

Any other security programs running that might be causing this?

Some other possibilities at http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/40.html

Hope this helps,

Same problem here. Removed Windows Defender and everything fine now.
Don't have time to look into it further, but so far Windows Defender
does not impress.
