MiataRed

For the life of me I cannot figure out why I cannot connect to 1 web site
with IE6 and I can connect with Firefox fine.

I have 3 computers on my network, all running IE 6 and 2 will connect fine,
but one refuses to

It's a TabletPC XP Pro and all the latest updates...

Any ideas ???

Thanks.

I'm curious: what site is that? You should have specified a bit more. I
thought it is Firefox that would fail to display some websites.

Hi MiataRed :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Cannot browse certain websites
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10082

or..

It could be that your HOSTS file is blocking access:

How to check Hosts file

Windows/host (it will not have an extension, and if there is more than one,
choose the one that says Application in a column to the right) . Right click
on it and select Open with.....when the window opens, scroll down the list
to Notepad. Once it opens in Notepad, scroll down the list to see if that
site is in the list. If so, DO NOT delete it, just go to the very front of
the line to the left and enter # in front of the line so that it looks
similar to the one below, as the entries with # in front will be ignored.

# Entries with other comments are searchable via Google.

Then click the save button and close. Then try the site again.

For more information on the HOSTS file check here

Also..... try adding the site to your Trusted Zone.

If you have Zone Alarm, you might also check the Trusted area there too:

Add or Remove Sites in Restricted or Trusted Zones

Check your AV as well, it may also be blocking that site for some reason.
Also, any 3rd party toolbars, ad or popup blockers can also blck access.

Hope this helps :-)

2 of my 3 computers will connect OK with IE, but 1 simply refuses to and I
cannot figure it out. I have reviewed all my security settings...

All my computers are on the same network, through the same switch/router, so
it's not the IP address that being blocked.

Thanks.

My HOSTS file is in the windows\i386 folder

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.

# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

I did add the URL to my Trusted Sites.

Thanks.
