when or will there be a public beta for testing??

I am also getting hammered with the popups on my laptop, and i am really
getting tired of it.. :(

I have tried just about everything, the only thing that really does work for
me so far is when the power is off........ hehe

I was a beta tester for many versions of windows, that is why i asked 383057

Turn on the WinXP SP2 Popup Blocker.

IE7 will only be installable on Windows XP SP2 and above - I assume
that you realise this?

AFAIK, there are no plans for a public Beta - but I could well be
wrong.

I'm sure there will be a public beta, but I have no idea when. Since the
(almost) private beta is out now, I'm hoping the public beta will be out
toward the end of this year, but that's just my hope, not firm knowledge.

It'd have to be a short public Beta, then - as I understand it, the target
is to launch before Xmas, and they're still in Beta1?? (I ducked out of this
one)

that would be so nice if that would be the answer to solve the problem.
but that is no working either, neither is the other popup stoper i
installed to help catch them also..
any other ideas?

thank you very much, i am running that now, on both laptops, and 3 work
stations at home as well.

thanks again.

i just noticed a post above about ie being hijacked by a best-promo.com
thing...

that might be the same thing that i have here, just about every popup that
happens here is for something about an advertisement, i have run virus
scanners (norton av) and the microsoft spyware software and have found
nothing, maybe there is something that is being missed somewhere.

thanks for your time frank.

Have you tried the Google Toolbar? I find that it works better than
the popup blocker built into IE 6 SP2.

The best solution is to download, update, and do a full scan (disconnected
from the internet) with MSAS and Ad-aware. I have been using IE6 since XP
first came out and have not had many popups and 0 spyware problems.
Make sure windows is up to date, your trusted zone does not have any
untrusted address in them.

have done just about everything that there is, i am now considering formating
and reinstalling or even switching operating systems..
hehe
Or at least browers...
Hey now there is an idea, installing another web browser. wait a sec, i did
that, made netscape my default browser, and STILL had IE poping up my A**,
gosh this is really getting on my nearves.......

google/yahoo did find about 8 different adware popup ie hijackers, It was
supposed to have removed them all, but after several reboots, they are STILL
HERE... I think that my laptop is haunted....
lol

.....it probably is - by malware!!
You may already have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://vil.mcafeesecurity.com/vil/averttools.asp

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.
http://www.merijn.org/cwschronicles.html

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:
http://www.trendmicro.com/cwshredder/

download AdAware SE Personal Edition from www.lavasoftusa.com, install,
update, and run it to remove spyware, adware, and other such nasties from
your system.

online(the spyware update them selfts if you are online) Secondgo into
add/remove and remove any programs that look or sound like spyware.
